Is India-Israel relationship maintainable?

Many pundits in India continue to gaze at the India-Israel relationship through the lens of Palestine. However, some argue that it is critical to de-hyphenate India’s relations with Israel and Palestine, a process that began in 1992 when New Delhi established diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv and which has gathered steam since then. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel earlier this month made this de-hyphenation blatant and conspicuous. Boosting trade and investment ties found explicit mention in the India-Israel joint statement during Mr. Modi’s visit. To encourage bilateral investments, Mr. Modi and his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, also agreed to conduct negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty (BIT).

Dengue fever menace in TN

In June, the TN state recorded around 1,200 dengue cases , taking the total number of those affected to 4,400 since January -- the second highest in the country after Kerala. "We are coordinating with officials across the border and sharing our resources, including videos andother awareness campaign materials to eliminate mosquito breeding sites," said health minister C Vijayabaskar. Healthcare facilities close to the border are receivinffg patients from the neighbouring states and their details are notified to their respective district officials. The municipal administration within the state is supporting the health department in cleaning drives and testing filters of water treatment plants attached to various local bodies. Officials say drinking water stored in large containers in Chennai and surrounding districts to tide over the water crisis, and stagnant rainwater in western districts, have led to an uptick in mosquito population.

What is Big Data and what is its 3 definitions.

Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data – both structured and unstructured – the that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. But it’s not the amount of data that’s important. It’s what organizations do with the data that matters. Big data can be analyzed for insights that lead to better  and stategic business moves.         While the term “big data” is relatively new, the act of gathering and storing large amounts of information for eventual analysis is ages old. The concept gained momentum in the early 2000s when industry analyst Doug Laney articulated the now-mainstream definition of big data as the three Vs: Volume.  Organizations collect data from a variety of sources, including business transactions, social media and information from sensor or machine-to-machine data. In the past, storing it would’ve been a problem – but new technologies (such as Hadoop) have eased the burden. Velocity.  Data streams in at an unprecedented speed and must

What is internet of Things (IoT)

Internet of Things definition : The vast network of devices connected to the Internet, including smart phones and tablets and almost anything with a sensor on it – cars, machines in production plants, jet engines, oil drills, wearable devices, and more. These “things” collect and exchange data.   IoT – and the machine-to-machine (M2M) technology behind it – are bringing a kind of “super visibility” to nearly every industry. Imagine utilities and telcos that can predict and prevent service outages, airlines that can remotely monitor and optimise plane performance, and healthcare organisations that can base treatment on real-time genome analysis. The business possibilities are endless.

Trump's attitude towards Syria and Assad has changed very much.

Obama was widely criticized for his inaction in the Syrian civil war. His failure to act on the “red line” ultimatum he declared against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons remains one of the most scarring events in his administration. In April, Trump was quick to react with a one-off strike of his own after the Syrian government killed scores of civilians in an apparent chemical attack. But the attack was mostly seen as a show of force rather than part of a broad strategy in the war-torn country.  Pentagon officials have emphasized they will keep the United States out of the conflict and have pushed back against a proposal, favored by some White House officials, to prevent Assad and his Iranian allies from moving toward parts of southern Syria occupied by the Islamic State. But the White House agreed in early July to cooperate with Russia in backing a civil war cease-fire in the southwestern corner of the country.

Ram Nath Kovind wins race to Raisina, elected 14th President of India

As was expected, NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind was elected as the 14th President of India. The former Governor of Bihar was a masterstroke decision by the NDA considering that while Kovind has good credentials, he is also a Dalit candidate and his win would make him the second Dalit President of India. Most parties who were on the fence about supporting the BJP were left with no choice as they did not want to be seen as opposing a Dalit candidate. Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi's decision to put forth Meira Kumar's name was in retaliation to the NDA's move.  A day before the election to the top constitutional post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated NDA pick Ram Nath Kovind "in advance" and assured him that his government would support him wholeheartedly.  The numbers had favoured Kovind as the ruling coalition had secured the support of two-third of the electoral votes. However, since it was a secret ballot, Opposition chief Sonia Gan

Beware H1N1

Until July 9, 12,460 people have been infected, and 600 have succumbed to it. This is much more than the 2016 tally of 1,786 cases and 265 deaths, although it is nowhere near the outbreak of 2015, when 42,592 cases were reported and close to 3,000 people died. This year, Gujarat has recorded 75 deaths from 289 infections; Kerala, 63 deaths from 1,127 infections, Rajasthan, 59 from 407 reported cases; Karnataka 15 in 2,377 cases; Telangana, 17 deaths from 1,443 cases; and Tamil Nadu, 15 from 2,896. Some basic influenza do’s and dont’s are applicable to swine flu too. These include covering the mouth or nose while coughing and sneezing, washing hands frequently, avoiding crowded places, maintaining a distance from a person suffering from flu, avoiding handshakes, etc. Do not self-medicate.

Kamal Haasan taking on the TN Govt

Chennai : In what's being seen as Kamal Haasan taking on the Tamil Nadu government, the actor in a tweet has appealed to his fans and the public to report corruption in the state to ministers concerned online, noting complaints on paper would be torn and thrown away. "Let a few lakh complaints reach ministers. Will you arrest all? Or will you respond? In the entire south there wouldn't be space for all in jails" the 62-year-old actor tweeted on Wednesday evening. Last week, at his press meet meant to respond to allegations of vulgarity in his debut reality TV show 'Bigg Boss Tamil', Kamal Haasan had said "There's corruption everywhere in the state". Local Administration Minister had tacitly said a case would be filed against the actor if he continued to make unsubstantiated allegations and challenged him to present evidence. Finance Minister Jayakumar had followed suit.

20 of the 70 Colleges of Delhi University have no Principals

With just a few days to go before the new academic session begins at Delhi University (DU), over 20 of its 70 colleges are being run by “officiating” or “acting” principals. The post at several top-rung colleges have been vacant for several years and they are being run by “acting” principals appointed according to university rules for a term of six months at the most, following which the post is supposed to be filled permanently, or the term is extended. According to procedure, the responsibility of appointment of principals lies both with the university as well as the college’s governing body. The post has to be advertised by the governing body and the university is supposed to set up a selection committee for interviews. However, several colleges do not have governing bodies as well and hence the appointment has been stalled.

The first Child with successful Hand Transplant

Washington, United States : The first child in the world to undergo a double hand transplant is now able to write, feed and dress himself, doctors said Tuesday, declaring the ground-breaking operation a success after 18 months. The report in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health provides the first official medical update on 10-year old Zion Harvey, who underwent surgery to replace both hands in July 2015. "Eighteen months after the surgery, the child is more independent and able to complete day-to-day activities," said Sandra Amaral, a doctor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where the operation took place. "He continues to improve as he undergoes daily therapy to increase his hand function, and psychosocial support to help deal with the ongoing demands of his surgery." Harvey had his hands and feet amputated at the age of two, following a sepsis infection. He also had a kidney transplant. Harvey was already receiving drugs to suppress any immun

Google's new offering called "Google Feed"

Google today announced an overhaul of its search app on mobile phones to include a personalised feed of links about hobbies, travel, sports and other topics, a move that puts the search company into more direct competition with social networks such as Facebook. Google, the world's largest search engine and a unit of Alphabet Inc, said the changes would begin rolling out in the United States on Wednesday and other countries in the coming weeks. The new offering is called “Google Feed,” a name that may conjure comparisons to Facebook's “News Feed,” a feature on Facebook used to browse updates from friends, family and other sources. Google said, however, that it was not trying to duplicate Facebook Inc, the world's largest social network. Instead, the company said it wanted to create another place to see a stream of relevant search results. “This feed is really about your interests ... It's not really about what your friends are interested in,” Ben Gomes, a Google vic

Costly ticket of Chennai Metro Rail

At present, the fares of Chennai Metro Rail range from ₹10-₹50 for normal class, depending on the distance covered, and double this amount for special class. Currently, the highest fare elsewhere in the country is ₹60, with the airport line in Delhi. That makes Chennai’s metro rail’s fares the costliest in the country already. So, the special class rate when the base tariff goes up to ₹70, would be ₹140. “The discussions are on in this regard; this price may be only for those travelling distances of 24 km–45 km; People can save time when they travel by the Metro Rail for that distance,” an official said. For instance, when the entire 45 km of phase I becomes operational, a person who travels from Washermanpet to Chennai Airport, a distance of about 25 km, he or she may have to pay ₹ 70. If they take the special class, then the fare is ₹ 140.  Experts say public transport, ideally, should not have such high pricing. Delhi Metro Rail, for instance, makes for a great example that
Kamal Hassan is a better choice for TN CM Post in today's scenario because at present there is a big vacuum in political leadership after the demise of Jayalalitha. The ruling ADMK split into 3 factions and yet for want of power and money the three faction MLAs stick together extracting from the unstable CM wherever the are tempted to demand.
